We're squeaky, not just because of the members but also in spite of them. We're squeaky, mostly because of the Mods and Admin.
We need more moderating because we currently get over 5 million hits a month. Along with those hits we get more than our fair share of idiots, morons, and spammers who need to be watched and culled etc. to keep this a great place for you to visit.
If it wasn't for the tireless work of the moderators and admin there wouldn't be as many woodwork related posts, because every thread would be overrun with spam and adds from bastards selling , mobile phones, little blue pills, holidays, dodgy real estate and investment deals and a whole lot more.
A team of fair, evenhanded, and impartial moderators is essential to the success of Woodwork Forums. Without them we wouldn't be rated # 1 by Google and many other search engines when you do a search for woodwork.
More than 150 hours a week of work every week, up front and behind the scenes is done by our dedicated team of Moderators and at least another 60 or more by the administrators.
The position of Super Moderator is one of extreme trust and I don't take lightly the choosing of those I will eventually ask to to take on the job. Especially in light of past events. I weigh up all the pro's and con's of many prospective members (it could be anyone) before asking them to come on board as a moderator.
The chosen few have to be willing and able to sacrifice a substantial part of their free hours to keep an ever watchful eye on the forums. They are all very special people who take on the position with the full knowledge that it is a completely voluntary, frustrating and mostly thankless job that may alienate them from former friends and put them in the firing line of all manner of idiot.
They have to walk a fine line between being a welcome member of the forums and being despised as an upholder of rules and decorum etc. They often have to give up their freedom to join in the fun as a member of the great unwashed in preference to sitting back and watching on for fear they may have to edit one of their friends and be sniped at for doing so.
There are many dozens of posts from spammers, political activists and all sorts of other weirdo's that never see the light of day or are deleted within minutes of being put on because of behind the scenes work done by Admin and the Super Mods. Because it is mostly goes unseen there is a general feeling that we don't need them. You have no idea just how wrong you really are.
With the forum growing at around 10% every couple of months, it is feasible that we will have around 10 million hits by Christmas next year. This will mean more mods yet again.
All of my Administrators, Super Moderators, have been chosen for their specific abilities and their undeniable passion and love for these forums.
You don't have to like them, you don't have to respect them, ALTHOUGH YOU BLOODY WELL SHOULD, you don't even have to talk to them if you don't wish. However a thank you from time to time would (I'm sure) be most welcomed.
Uncalled for posts like this (now deleted one) won't be tolerated even though they may be done in jest.

Posts like this and the multitude of time wasting, hijacking, irrelevant, drivel, abusive, degrading, sexist, antisemitic, extreme political, racist, etc, etc are the other reason we need more moderation. Hundreds of these absolutely useless and irrelevant posts are deleted every week. Yet still we have thousands not yet removed and clogging up out server space. Does anyone really need to ask why we need mods or admin.
