Friday lunch prattle

Another fun prattle eventuated with just three of us catching up this week.
it started with trying to sort out Yvan's connection freezing up but then it worked, we moved on to luddites and then to networking and xmas lights. The discussion shifted to China manufacturing and quality equals the QA put in by the buyer, the volume of product shipped by Walmart, sourcing CBN wheels from China and how we loose some days in the week, I especially thought Wed was Thurs this week.
After all that we got onto topic with Yvan building mobile racking for his storage cases, Paul having family time with some must do projects, Phil is getting visitors and can see one or more bevvies being consumed with cards played and just maybe a lazy susan getting made and a mailbox to build asap.
We then discussed weird and wonderful mailboxes

So a couple of promised bits
My old mailbox, very much in need of replacement ... about 13years old and very neglected, so surprised it lasted this long, built before i really knew much

New one will be similar with the top maybe roof shaped a little for water runoff, must fit a magazine flat through the slot etc

looking closely at the one in the photos with current knowledge I likely got it close from a wood movement perspective :)

The trivia bit is this tree is one of maybe 20 odd of this style with individually controlled bulbs in private displays in 2010.... how do i know ... i actually designed and built the controllers used, i believe one went onto a yacht in new york harbour :)

In today's meeting Yvan's connection was a little slow, although it improved as time went on (IT muscle memory?) and I commented that an interview I had seen on line between Giordano Nanni, founder of the Juice Media, and Malcolm Turnbull had a similar jittery issue. I know at least one other participant to The Prattle who is a big fan of TJM

That led on, as our Prattles tend to, to the Juice Media Itself. JTM is a satirical, political comment presented by two delightful young ladies whose eloquence is only surpassed by their irreverence: Hard hitting and right to the point, it is also very amusing unless you are easily offended, in which case I recommend you stick to Playschool.

Since that time Giordano invited Adam Bandt to respond to Malcolm Turnbull's comments, which decried the actions of the Greens with respect to climate change, but I have not seen that one yet although it is available.

Honest Government Ads - The Juice Media

There are of course multiple levels on which satire like this can be viewed. However, possibly the funniest of all did not stem from the content of the video, but the government's reaction. They asked TJM to stop using that logo because they thought people would believe it was in fact authorised by the government: I am wrestling with the idea that government thought the video was so realistic it could really be "them." Surely they either can't read, can't listen, can't recognise reality or maybe they are actually hopeless.

That makes perfect sense Paul, if you watch any CNC machine they basically have a hose running coolant and cutting fluid on the tool full time.
Unfortunately I’m not going to do that on my drill press as I don’t have a mob to clean the mess up with.[emoji6]

We chatted about earthquakes in New Zealand,
Simon showed a very impressive looking trinket box.

We then discussed Rail track anvils, an how to drill high carbon steels.
But the extremely sad news was not once did any of the scoundrels mention chainsaws, I’m possibly going to join in next Friday and sit in silence, due to the lack of chainsaw discussion this week in protest.

I used the old code and password. Could not get in. I did the same as last time, used the one from the old forum pages. I just checked the earlier codes there about 4 different ones.
