using VB default I don’t see any adds except the side bar, but I should see the top banner. Switched back to WWF default and seeing all the adds, but I shouldn’t see the in post adds.
cheers Andrew

From bobl thread
Doing some more background work on ads today.
How are you viewing the forums. Computer, tablet, phone?
Have a look now and see if in post ad has disappeared.
With above and logged in I'm currently only seeing sidebar sponsor adds.
With Chrome on Android and logged in and in 'Full Site' mode I'm only seeing sidebar sponsor adds.
With iPad OS 13.2.2 and Chrome browser, logged in, I'm only seeing sidebar sponsor adds.
With Chrome on Android and in 'Mobile' mode and logged in I'm getting both top adds & in-post adds (but in that mode I don't get the sidebar, so no sponsor adds).
Working on permissions for ads and different member settings today, hopefully it will all be sorted out later today, tonight or tomorrow.
Quick fix on last Saturday wasn't right for all. My fault, update of member settings needed and will take some time to do.
I will put a full list of who will/should see what ads when all properly sorted out.
When done the ads will disappear for members on a sliding scale as they are promoted from Unregistered to Gold. Promotions come through members post count.
Still working on it. Having trouble finding enough time to get it all done. :C
Everything is working fine on my iPad, iPhone and PC. It has been for a number of days. Thanks for the work you and Steven are doing.
Looks to be all good now.
(chrome on android)
all good on PC and S8.....same for MWF
I'm getting a bazillion of these in post ads on my Android tablet (using Chrome, not the forum App) I'm logged in.
Hi admins,
Any work being done to fix this?
I am really not in the market for handbags, shooet-em-up games etc that are peppering and separating the paragraphs in posts!!
Just tried from the PC - no issues here, so it seems there is only a problem with Android??
Chrome is your problem, I only EVER use Firefox, not a single unwanted ad on laptop or android tablet
I do not have an android device so I can’t comment on that, but I use Chrome on my laptop. No problems at all over the past 3-4 weeks.
Also, no problems on the iPad or iPhone.
STILL getting the spam ads in the body of posts in threads on Android tablets. In fact it seems worse, as there appears to be more of them.
:frustrated::spam::frustrated:
Check you are still logged in when you see the ads. That was my issue (chrome on android)
Chrome is a PITA
Hi there
What browser are you using on android?
thanks
I’m getting large banner ads spread throughout forum topics. I am logged in. I have over 60 posts. I tried logging out and back in again - no change. I’m using iPad with Safari. Latest version of all software/iOS.
BTW what is supposed to happen for members with between 60 and 100 posts? - your list above doesn’t cover this. And if number of posts is the measure by which we are punished/rewarded with spam advertising, you are inviting a whole bunch of nonsense posts simply to get the post number up. Don’t wish to be negative, but this doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.....

Further to my post above, I tried changing the style to vB default as has been suggested by some users earlier in this thread, but that made no difference at all.

Hello Grant
I'm away at the moment with limited internet access.
However I have reported this again to Steven. Something's going on that shouldn't be. Few glitches have been cropping up or reoccurring in the last couple of weeks.
The ads although a pain in the but, are what keeps the forums up and running. Without the few that we let on normally the forums probably wouldn't still exist.
Hang in there and hopefully all will be fine again in the not too distant future.
Members between 60 & 100 posts work for the privilege of no ads and a couple of other special things. Do you really think people will post rubbish just to get rid of one ad which helps keep the forums free for all members?Quote:

By the way posted rubbish is usually deleted as fast or faster than it's posted because some of our dedicated members report it and moderators deal with it in a timely manner.

Thanks Neil,
I appreciate you/Steven continuing to chase this down. It’s not the one add that bothers me - it’s the six or more giant banners per page, most of them in the middle of someone else’s post, that really irritate me. I’ve read through all of the earlier discussion on this thread and understand your reasoning for keeping some ads. While I personally would prefer to pay/donate and not have the adds, I accept that this is your call and yours alone.
I wasn’t trying to be a smart$%se about nonsense posts - it just struck me that if post count was the only way to get rid of the annoying ads (not the “one ad”) then it might well encourage people to just post for the sake of it to get the post count up. I’ve seen it happen on other forums for a slightly different reason. I’m not an expert in woodworking, so tend to read more than post unless I think I’ve got something meaningful to add or a question to ask of the more knowledgeable folk here. I’d like to keep it that way.
Grant
Hi Neil
Same for me. I'm using the latest version of Chrome. Not complaining, just letting you know, and posting an example of what I see...

ALL FIXED https://www.ubeaut.biz/woohoo.gif
After a lot of tracking down Both Steven and I found the problem on Friday at different times. Steven through careful and diligent research whilst I stumbled upon it unwittingly a couple of hours before hand.
I disabled all advertising on the forums for a number of days and still the adds kept on happening. Thought we may have been hacked, but....
Back in October I inadvertently clicked on a "Fix Now" link in Google Adwords Control Panel which appeared to do nothing. But unknown to either of us it had enabled a new form of crazy unrestricted advertising.
Seems to have have been unleashed on many unsuspecting sites around the world.
I disabled it and all has now returned to normal.
I am currently rolling out a new batch of ads for unregistered and non contributing members in the hope that we get a bit more income to help pay for the continued running and upkeep of the forums.
Cheers :U
Well done chaps!
And, thanks.
:2tsup: x 100
Well done gentlemen! Nice one.
Regards Adam
