Do we all have to bring a shovel to move the ski jump?:)
No Chris. That is just sooooo 'last week'....................
Attachment 413744
The ski jump has however been replaced by a water slide...... rapidly turning into a mudslide! :tears:
Fletty,
Hope you and all attendees have a great time at your get together
Regards
Keith
What a shame I have just heard about this now, I would love to see the iBox being used. I would also have brought my jigs to show off, Leigh D4R, Multiple Mortice and Tenon Jig and Isoloc template.
Shame too it's also so close to the Sydney Wood Show.
Hopefully next time, I'll see the post sooner.
Did i mention I was hoping to bring the family?
That mud slide might go down well with some

But I'm not quite as excited lol

I'll bring the bobbin for giggles. Andy's been working on a wheel for a friend but it's at a fragile stage and probably can't do the trip.
Hey, is 'Long Draw' a joining method? ;)

oh, you mean I have to leave this
http://www.snowathome.com/images/800_SG7_package.jpg
at home. SNOWatHOME » SG7 Ulitimate Pakage⢠- Make tons of snow at home this winter season with a SG7 Ultimate snow making package!
So Ian did you really need to buy that where you are?
I'm joking (it snowed here again today) -- but maybe Fletty needs something similar for his ski slope
It's funny you should say that. We have had A LOT of rain and the back paddock and driveway are very soft and boggy. This could make next Sunday's gtg a bit difficult! When going through my options of WHAT will harden the ground, freezing it was briefly considered before being discarded as impractical? However..... you may have put it back on the table?
Not at all difficult, a 4WD Mud Runner display at lunch time....
A Fletty Monster Trucks Jam!!!!
Alan, Have you heard from Ray, aka wheelinaround, as to whether he's coming down; haven't seen him on the forum for a month, hope he's okay!! Cheers Peter
Hi Crowie, I'm in contact with Ray every few days via SMS. He's in good nick except for his usual dropping of sharp things onto himself but Sue has a bad dose of the dreaded lurgy! His bench is nearly finished and looking good but, how he does it given his lack of mobility, still amazes me? They won't be down for the gtg. They had hoped that it would line up with some other family functions but that's not happening now.
He has some timber stored at my place as "turning blanks" which I was supposed to sell at the last gtg :doh:but will definitely be sold/donated at this one. Pat will make sure of this as "what don't get turned, will be burned"!

I am doubtful at this stage but let's see what happens this week.

Contrary to what Fletty wrote above (and edited out) Wheelinround is not banned from the forums. He did receive a 1 week ban which ended 13th May for an altercation with a Moderator.
Maybe someone might like to contact him and see what the real reason is for his unusually long absence.
But no matter what don't come back and say he is banned as he definitely isn't. He may just be upset and not wanting to play any more.
If for some reason he can't get on to the forums please let me know and I'll do what I can, when I can, to sort out his problems..... (with connection, nothing else).

regarding joining systems methods -
Do any of the attendees have a portable vacuum press setup they'd be willing to bring along? (ie something like this Project: EVS - The Concept)
I'm in the process of researching vacuum pumps for making such a setup, and would love to see how others have done it (I already have the roarockit manual setup, but need to up-spec it to something far more capable).
I reckon vacuum bagging classifies as a joining system doesn't it?
I'm going to be sorry I can't get to this. Like many of us I use some of the systems being demonstrated and have seen others used, but I bet there will be a gem or two to be mined here. Looking forward to when there will be less demands on my time. Ahh well, one day. Have a great time guys. Looking forward to some unbiased reviews of what's presented.
PMs have been sent. If you would like to come along OR have already put your hand up but I have missed you OR, like Uncle Al, DaveTTC and NZCarver, your INBOX is full  , just let me know and I will send/resend the details?
Everyone is welcome!

Fletty,
For those of us running power tools, say a router in the Incra, do you need us to bring extension leads ? I'm also debating whether to bring dust collector for the router . What would you recommend ?
The router I use is not especially loud but I would recommend hearing and eye protection for all.
Hello Alan,
I haven't received a PM, although my inbox is not full. I have your details from last time, so have your number and know where to go. I assume that, if the ground is dry enough we come through the bottom gate and park on the grass; if not dry, park on the (back) street and walk up the hill to the shed?
Regards,
Mark
Hi econ,
I had already been 'prompted' today about desirable OHS protection. Like last year's sharpening get together, I recommend everyone bring at least safety glasses and, if you wear it in your own shed, hearing protection as well. If you believe that you naturally attract mosquitos, after this week's rain, I recommend that you bring repellent OR, please stand near me?
No need for power leads nor dust collectors thanks econ. There's a Festool vac and hoses on hand and the main dust collector is ducted to all corners of the shed. When you get here on Sunday, there'll be many hands ready to help you unload.

Inbox has been cleared, sorry 'bout that.
I have your address from last time, so no problems there.
On another matter, can you PM me your email address, I have a couple of photos to send you, and I will be bringinging the tiles Wheelinround gave me at Maleny.
See Ya on Sunday,
Alan...
I think I have room in my inbox now

You are nuts Dave. :screwy: I drove to Melbourne last week and back on Monday. Don't really want to do that again any time soon
I think it is something you get used to doing Tony. I drove the 12 hours straight through from Dave's with one fuel stop but I have done a lot of that from when I was very young and the Hume Hwy was a two laned goat track, all highways were goat tracks and the cars no better. I didn't have a family in the car and that would make it way harder though. Have a safe trip Dave and see you soon.
Just cant get me enough of my woodworking family
