I had a problem about 5.30pm posting a reply to my WIP thread.
1. Started a new reply.
2. Typed in text
3. Attached images
4. Previewed reply. Looked ok, including image previews.
5. Modified text
6 Re-previewed reply.
7. Attachments gone missing.
8. Posted reply
9. Attachment still missing
10. Started another new reply.
11. Attached images.
12. Posted reply. Did not preview
13. Attachment appear in reply.
Received two email notifications on the last Fuzzie post, speed is OK today.
I've been surfing the forum for the last hour or so and so far no problem. Pages are coming up quickly and have had no trouble with posting. Maybe we are back on track.:2tsup: or maybe I'm just lucky..

ISP is definitely a problem.
I am on ADSL 2+ which is fairly fast here in the bush, any page loads almost instantly, Woodwork Forum takes ages. Sorry, cheers and Happy New Year, hope all have a good one.

Tried to reply to NAI's post, after about 10 seconds got timed out message, clicked resend, got site unavailable message.
Last few days Woodwork Forum has been a bit slower than usual - about 10 seconds from click to action complete.
Time would be between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time in USA.
Thanks for the forum, I feel very close to those on the Woodturning section.

I wanted to note a strange problem, maybe this isn't the correct thread for it but here goes anyway. When I visit the forum as a visitor I can see all the photos attached to threads no problem. However, when I'm logged in I have to click on each photo link in order to view the image. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

I was wondering why I got no reply, so searched for the post & it did not come up. It does show under "The Workbench" subforum
Ross (and others interested), I find the best way to search the forums is to use google. The command to use is:
"SEARCH WORDs + site:https://www.woodworkforums.com" in the google search box
So, for your search try -
"Sliding dovetail to minimise wracking site:www.woodworkforums.com"
To find "shellac" try
"shellac site:www.woodworkforums.com"

I really wanted to highlight the fact that this post seems to have some problems that may indicate an underlying database error, as the entry did not show up in my "New Posts" or in results using the site search functions that rely on the forum database (as opposed to Google, which maintains its own index of pages that it discovers by crawling sites)
I do agree that Google is a fine way to search & gives you way more options to narrow or expand your search than the forum tools. The Google Advanced Search Form is a useful first step, but you can get a lot more power by understanding Google search syntax - this link has details for those intersted (worth reading, as it will make your use of Google far more productive in general, not just for searching the forums )

On and off all day slow to load even this morning PM's. seems to be in spurts when it is quicker.
Was working fine this morning up until about 10 minutes ago and now has come to a crawl posted a couple of posts in the toy forum but sooooo slow. 9-38am.
It seems to have picked up the pace again now and working okay.:2tsup:

Ok that whole section was set to not index posts in search results. I'll need to check the other forum sections and rebuild the search index. It will prob take 5 - 8 hours to run and we will need run it at a low traffic time.Quote:

Sorry for the delay Steven, I was called for dinner. Yeah I think your right, the upload did seem to take longer than usual and I suspect it was more like a time-out that caused the "Token Error', even though, I did forget to reduce the size of the pics. Once the pics were reduced in size they uploaded quite quickly but I didn't record the time taken.

From choosing "Submit Reply" to the post actually appearing was over 1 minute, closer to 1:30sec . No error occured but it did take a long time. There were five pictures and they uploaded quickly.
I think I might know what your problem is.... :think:

Up and down when I have been on during the day sorry didn't keep times etc even Pm's were slow to load etc. Then as in this thread and others our Names are in RED :?
Subscribed threads still coming in at 6/6.30pm I have been into the User area and can't locate anything to alter that.
10:00 PM -ish I noticed that the usernames are now in various very bright colours (which I personally don't like), so I tried all the skins, searched for an announcement of a change, bore in mind the recent problems and request for reports so tacked onto this thread.

Most pages load normally for me.
I have found that only when i do a "search" it takes a longer time.
About 10 to 20 seconds.
