Nice memories for me - I worked in Kitzbuhel for a season years ago. Did you drive through there? Before that we took the old Kombi up an old pass (highest in europe from memory) that takes you into Lavinio. Cool area.

Yes, thats correct. I haven't had need to use a set since 1963 (bad winter) and I could not recall there name.

The nearest we got to Kitzbuhl was Zell am See (photograph above) but you know how beautiful the Alps are with your memories.

Lavino pass, did a google on that one and came up with this link

but we just used the Alpine road out of Austria through Cortina and eventually finished up in Switzerland owing to snow and road conditions.

After 13 hours of water blasting I await that stabilising solution.
