No, no, no. If you're going to drink red with the chicken you MUST do it to excess. Otherwise the steroids in the chicken counteract the alcohol in the red and you wind up looking at the world as it really is. Interestingly, there is no evidence as to the effects of drinking white with chicken because, as we all know, only poofs drink white and so the evidence isn't available on this forum.Quote:

Interestingly though, and I hadn't made the connection until now (see, the benefits of mucking about), if I drink a couple of glasses of cask red every day, I get sore joints in my hands. I thought at first it was just arthritis creeping in (the rest of my family got in at my age, why shouldn't I :( ), but a day or two off the red and the pain goes away. Might be them preservatives having a play.

Hope I'm wrong - not known to be able to diagnose medical problems from afar, but I'm male, an engineer, and so think I know something about everything!
As a test, get a bottle of good red, not a $5 bottle, $15 to $20 range will do, & try that & see if your joints hurt.... worth a try; almost as scientific as going to the doc & then forking out for pathology tests.
When I first started in the open cuts, my foreman had serious gout problems. However he swore black & blue that a couple of good stouts alleviated it.
I've always wondered... does it really? Or is it just one of those "get comfortably numb" things?
How would you tell the difference? ;)
