older more knowledgeable members:confused: :confused: :confused: are you saying you senior members are the only ones here that know everything or to offer any real advice? time and time we see new members say they have been lurking and now have joined and want to ask a silly question:confused: why would they say that? to me their not stupid or silly and i have no problem answering instead of being all high and mighty and telling them to do a search. this is a forum for new and old just not you older members.

I don't think Don is a new member and he raised the issue on the original thread. A few others including myself have been around a while and also made comment.

On the substantive issues we have a post by Don ( Get seriously Children ) and this post as a reply by Al. It is difficult to comment as I consider both to be my mate.

After carefully reading both posts I think there is much I agree with. I wholeheartedly agree with Don that our focus should be on woodworking ( and related matters) and that those who never posts on those subjects but on everything else are in the wrong place.

Don Agrees with Al that we should not lose our humour and become like the yankee boards. As Al says it should be fun as well as woodworking. The only question is the degree of fun, and sometimes we do go overboard and should be pulled into line.

This debate has been hijacked by the anti do a search brigade and now individual posters to this debate are being castigated for expressing an opinion based on their postings record. This is again insulting. :mad: It is playing the man and not the issue.

Lets not forget that only recently we celebrated with Neil the fact that this board become No 1. Surely that means that we are doing something right. If someone doesn't like our brand of humour, our replies and leaves after a few posts then the were just single enquirers and whatever we say or do would have made no difference.

So if you don't like the replies or the hijacks then excercise your right to select what you want to read. By all means use the Ignore member facility.

So as Termite put it so eloquently "To those of you that don't like the way things are, then maybe you haven't had one of those wake up calls that very forcefully tell you that life is meant to be fun, and enjoy it while you can. I hope you never get one of those calls, but I do advise you to expand your tolerance a bit and enjoy life a little more."

I live with one of those who regularly has this wake up call. My wife is a diabetic and a few days ago so caught an infection that has thrown her diabetes out of kilter with the result that yesterday she had to go to hospital and will be there for a few days.

All I can say is that the humour on the board last night made me laugh, so let it continue.

The reason they joined whould be to ask a question. Why do they say it is a silly question I don't know. I've never asked them, but I am on record as saying that there is no silly question and have answered some as well.

Agreed that they are not stupid or silly, and if the answer has not been dealt with I have been happy to assist if I can. However if a search would have supplied the answer I refrain from posting and I will happily leave it to you.

Seriously... BM! Nice to see you hovering again! When did that happen?

If it was ages ago, I've got heaps of excuses - I've been sick, just sold the house, had the in-laws staying, work's really busy, the traffic's awful, haven't been sleeping too well, can't stand asparagus, the neighbour's got a new dog, the car needs a service, SWMBO says I have to do the washing, the lawn needs mowing, channel 7 ****s, and so on - they're all true (except the one about the asparagus!) :D
