You could use an IR thermometer to check tyre temps, I never thought to use one on the road in that way and am embarrassed to say we used them all the time at the track to do the same. That and a hammer is all anyone would need.

I use these on the van AND Landcruiser whenever I'm towing. The pressures seem accurate. I'm not sure about how accurate the temperatures are, but at least they give an indication if one tyre is noticeably hotter than the others.

Given time Dave they probably will be, just a matter of proving them to be a useful/necessary item saving lives, tyre blowouts causing roll overs.
Reversing cameras were the same a novelty at first, then shown to prevent deaths of children being run over, now a standard accessory on most vehicles.

Very lucky not to damage the guard or worse when it let go.
At least the tyre isn't bald.
I checked the guard when I changed the wheel. Hmmm it is a bit damaged. Tire must of whipped round and bent the outside edges towards the front

I hope that means the last of my tire woes. This was on the work car. Back passenger side. Had just dropped off my trailer with about 2 ton of wood on it so all in all I think I may have been lucky
