wasnt it a black labrador who used to hump his leg ?
He may have had a dog like this but that is not the pooch in question.
was it a mutt who bit nixon then ?
No, but I would think that he would have trained all his dogs to do this anyway. :)
Hint: try doing a search. LBJ dog
Oh alright!!!
I've been hanging off hoping the smar tarse little monkey would stick its head in!!!
The dog was a beagle who used to hang by it's ears from the tired, sad president's hands!
So........ Who is the Big Yin?
P
A) Billy Connolly.
Q) What's "oakum" and what's it used for?
Mick
It's used for caulking planks on ships, and it is either fibre, or a tar and fibre mix...
So what are tools used for jamming it into the gaps called?
P
Fingers? :)
screwdrivers ? :D
Tar and fibre mix stufferinera?
Al :)
Caulking applicators?
Here is a picture of the tools used. Looks to me like a mallet and a blunt chisel. The wooly stuff at the bottom of the picture is oakum

Curiously the mallets had very long heads, and the "blunt chisels" (caulking irons) came in all sorts of sizes and offsets to allow the caulking to happen in wierd corners.Quote:

I reckon all the answers were near enough though. (Pity Ralph didn't give it a go...)
So it's five persons' turn to ask questions then :D :D
Cheers,

OK, Mick will know this for sure, what is a "Verge Board"?
Somebody who is nearly as stiff as a plank? Or is somebody who is about to bore a virgin?
