The Australian team has only had 3 coaches, Simpson, Marsh and Buchanan.
Fast scoring is not a recent invention, the Invincibles also often scored at 4 runs per over (adjusted to a 6 ball over).
Do you think Symonds had something to do with that?

Three to go, an hour before lunch, and it would appear that the best score so far this series for the last FIVE wickets, is fifty something.
Cheers,
P
Next!!!! :D
All out. Just under 300 and just before lunch. Yep, they're going to make us work for this win.
Richard
Son of Kim gone for eleven, back to more of the same.:(
Still, four for almost enough is good enough in one session.
cheers,
P
:D :D :D
well it is looking like it is pretty even this far in. Interesting stuff for sure
The Poms finally decided they wanted to play, not sure what they were doing before
Studley
Did you see Gilly's dismissal? I reckon send Billy Bowden to the counties or grade cricket and get Daryl Hair back.
Studley
What else can you expect from Bowden? He gets it wrong more often than right. :((
Worst umpire on the ICC panel.
Plonker!
Bowden spends most of his time concentrating on his bent finger dismissal movement than on getting the decision right.
I said right from the start that Bowden is useless. How can you take so long to make an incorrect decision????:? With the bat obviously hitting the ground and the dust flying everywhere, surely there's a doubt about the ball hitting the bat. (which it didn't)
Bloody idiot Kiwi :((
But let's face facts, Warnie should be out.
Ahh Warnie,
Let those who think he's truly great also ponder his batting record:
Third most test ducks in test cricket.
Most runs in test cricket without scoring a century.
His runs scored after his "dismissal" probably made up for Gilly being wronged though. A hundred ahead is enough, what's the weather looking like?
Cheers,
P
If you were listening to ABC radio you would have heard what Warne was saying to Collingwood in the middle:
"An MBA for getting seven [runs]! That's a disgrace ... it's an embarrassment."
:2tsup: :2tsup: :2tsup: :2tsup:
MBE perhaps?
For winning a series by two runs 'n all. :oo:
Cheers,
P
:D :D :D
Actually I was listening to that bit in the car and they were talking about maybe the team does deserve something for winning and so on. Well someone should tell them that the winner usually gets a trophy. Players get to have their name in the record as being on the winning team, and of course they get paid a motza.
However at the end of your career for various outstanding players they do sometimes deserve a mention in the New Years Honours.
Studley
bye bye Poms, Collingwood is gone :) still 4 runs short of making us bat again.
maybe we won't have to. :D
My feeling is that the MBE's were a bit over the top. You can devalue awards by handing them out too easily. A sportsperson should use their profile to help the community for a few years after they retire before they start getting awards like that.
My guess is that they'll only just make it to the first drinks break.
(Sure glad I don't have fourth day tickets :oo: )
Just as well they haven't given the Australian team a gong every time they win a series, they'd take as many pages as a small novel just to write all the letters after their names.
I'm with you Rossluck, winning a game of cricket hardly seems to be of national significance, maybe it shows what an unhealthy state Britain is really in?
cheers.

From the Cricinfo Test commentary:
:DQuote:
9.40am A lovely sunny day at the SCG, the crowd beginning to come in for the 10.10am start ... Shane Warne on the edge of the field being presented with some trophy-cabinet material by a local official. He'll be getting a mass of that in the coming hours ... keep an eye on ebay next week.
Pieterson lasted 2 balls. Oh dear.
Sorry, can someone please tell me how often do they play the ashes? Every 18.236 month??
I need to know it for my citizenship exam.:- They will probably kick me out anyway.:D
Maybe we can send out McGrath and Langer to open...fitting farewell. Ooh Aah could really enjoy opening!
We play England every2 years, alternating between England and Australia. The next time will be in June 2009 followed by Australia in 2010.
England are 9 for 21 (effective)
Well played chaps!
P
:D :D :D
If only the Poms had the passion that their supporters do!
Just taking a look in history with adventures such as Henry's conquest of France, and Churchill's I have nothing to offer you except blood sweat and tears or his call to arms we will fight them on the beaches, and the bulldog spirit that they would never ever lie down while their was breath in their bodies, all I want to say that this team was not English. Lame limp wristed spineless yep could not be from the England of legend and history.
Bit of brainless management didn't help either being so defensive from the outset and failing to pick their best team, like the keeper Read and Monty as well. It might have played out differently had they been in from the start.
Yep lets start a thread, Why the Barmy Army deserves our sympathy
Studley
but their Trumpeter spends his time away from teh Cricket with the LSO
Didn't know they paid enough to get brickies to come and play with them
Well done the team!
Now they just have to keep the Poms winless in the one-dayers and it will be the perfect summer. :D
Langer, Warne and McGrath are a pack of hacks and should be dropped.
