I had a long wait for the front page to load tonight. By long I mean more than 30 seconds
Just took a little while to load my last thread, not too long but a little slower than normal. 5 photos attached.
"Database Error" - don't know what time as I had given up after several attemps to connect to the Forum and just left it. I believe that this week has been getting worse day by day. Today was the first time that I could not connect to the site at all on several occasions.
Tried posting this afternoon approx 14:45 to the TTIT thread - took ages to accept and failed - got a message telling me to wait [even though I had only hit the post button once]and repost after hitting the post button approx 40 seconds it worked, then I couldn't do anything, exited Firefox and tried to get back on but after a number of tries up until approx 15:15 - nil, nix, nada.
Not sure if the screen bit will help.
Thank you all for your response and for bearing with us. The problem has been resolved to an extent but still not happy. Our so called brilliant new server has let us down a little over two weeks into using it.
We will be looking at alternatives over the weekend and may be changing from the supposed new high tec, infallible type cloud server back to a good old fashioned hard drive or similar.
Anyway for now the problem seems to be fixed and some stability has returned to the forums at least for the present time. Thanks again for the info posted here, It was a help.
If you notice any more problems please let us know in here.
Cheers - Neil
Very interesting but totally not right. These forums are definitely not for sale. The forum in the message is woodforums.com NOT woodworkforums.com very interesting that this should be displayed at the bottom of one of our forum pages.... Strange. Very strange :?Quote:

I just tried to delete a duplicate post of mine & it sat there forever after I hit save.
Attempting to post a reply.
Gave up after waiting for 5 minutes.
First time I've noticed a problem.
Cheers,

Still slow posting as well.
Sorry still not working properly for me. Tried to go to another page just now and wouldn't open.. All other sites on the web that I use are opening just fine.
0927 hours - Replied to a post- after 3mins of "Waiting for www.woodworkforums.com" I killed the reply and refreshed the thread. The reply did not appear to have been posted.
0931 hours - Resubmitted the reply - after another 3 mins of "Waiting..." I walked away.
When I returned I found that the original reply and the resubmitted reply have be posted.
Yup, similar here & then sometimes it works fine.
All, please let us know where the duplicates are by reporting them http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/images/button2/report.gif and we will clear them up. We have no easy way to find them without your help, thank you.

Database error backing out of slabman51's thread in Announcements 1100 AEST.
Repeated three times with refresh attempts and twice after dumping and reloading Explorer. Came up fine on the third reload. Not an issue to me but if you need information I will provide it where required. (Melbourne Outer East Optus Cable).
Thanks for concern

Also a Database Error last night.....but I hadn't noticed the "Help Wanted " sign so I took no notice of the time.
Edit: Interesting.......I posted this and was shown the "Cannot display webpage" screen. Refreshed....no good. Closed browser (Internet Exploder) and opened it again, all fine and post showed up.
2nd Edit: Clicked "save" and got "I E cannot display this webpage", refresh no good.....close tab....open new tab.....load Ubeaut Forum from favourites....works fine.
Taking deep breath and about to click "save".
3rd Edit: It worked! :D
12:25 Today - Database Error when connecting to Forum.
I am using forum runner in iPhone I have not noticed any performance issues
Hi Neil,
Today is the first time I have visited the site in several months, and I certainly noticed a slowdown in response to what I had previously encountered. When looking at items for sale(Or Sold)
I am a formaer Database Designer and Developer, and am wondering if the issue may be the result of the Database of entries having grown to the point whre it is unmanageable.
Regardless of whether this may be a factor in the slow page posting and occasional timeouts, I suggest looking at moving sold items from the main database to an alternate database, allowing members to view such if needed, but limiting the size of the database by limiting it to jut the unsold items. I also suggest allowing users to select a filter that shows items from their own stat only,.
Good luck resolving the issue.
DanSplinters..
The page just sat there for 5 minutes on one occasion, 2.5 minutes another, and 15 after leaving it to do whatever. So I guess this can be said to be VERY VERY SLOW or a hang.
This has occurred throughout the day and evening from 8AM Pacific time to 12 AM Pacific time.

(loading a thread, replying to a post, looking at PM, etc)
I tried to load the thread for the Aussie swap, the thread for pen turning, the thread for reporting the hangup, and my messages.
I use a DSL wired modem running through a wireless D-link router. I am 10 feet from the router. Same thing occurs if hardwired into the modem. I have nio problems loadig the other forums or sites I visit. They all are reasonably fast.
Not running very fast at all. If I start it from scratch it loads fairly quickly then dies off. Once I am in the forum it seems to fall off.
Good luck with this one. Internet issues are always a pain in the *%^*&T^, if ya know what I mean.
Thanks,
Larry
8/1 at 3.15pm approx 1min. to open new message and over 2min. to send. This was in scroll saw forum but seems to be happening more often in all forums. ADSL wired modem.
Yesterday as part of my regular computer maintenance, I deleted temp files, history, cookies, saved passwords etc. Now, every time I want to log onto the Forum, I have to type in my forum name and password, despite ticking "Remember me", which is a bit of a pain.
I have rebooted a couple of times but still need to type in forum name and password to log on.
It may not be related in any way to the data base problems currently being experienced.

thanks guys, great info!
We're coming into a busy time of the day, in regard to new posts and visitors. Feedback between 6:30 and 9pm will be handy.
I'm using my Linux EEE with Firefox and have had normal (quick) connection times for loading the Forums home page, posting a reply and editing said reply. :2tsup:
All seems normal for me tonight.
Glad things seem normal for you now.
However, we have been under a concerted spam attack for a while now. If you see what appears to be a spammer slipping through please let us know. It may appear as a slightly weird sounding post, in a signature block or in Blog or Album comments.
Hi neil 11:45 pm SA time threads loading very slowly.
I'm on adsl2 and not a problem here before xmas but happening more lately

15:56 Message "Database Error - The database encountered a problem"
Had this message 6 or 7th Jan,I live near Ingham in FNQ 4850,I do think that the service has speeded up a bit.:2tsup:
Kind regards.
Tom.
I have had no email notifications for 24 hours.
(I've got a super cricket joke to post so going over to another section:D )
Without breaking up a serious thread, that reply worked quickly and with email notification.
:D
8:12 pm nowish
tried to edit my signature. Got this message:
"you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
- Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
- If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
I've also noticed that a second post (in another thread) will take a while to get going ie a number of seconds. Not sure this is clear. log on, look at a thread, make a post, ok, go to another thread read new posts, make a reply, seems to take a while to get going. Message down on the bottom left corner says either waiting for woodworkingforums or waiting for cdn.woodworkingforums. the wait can be as long as 20seconds or even longer yesterday and day before as I gave up.
PS just to prove me wrong that one was instantanious
