applying hard shellac with a rubber??

Knew a bloke once, who was going to end his life, by drinking Hard Shellac........

Mate I think youve just identified Neil's "secret crosslinking additive" :D

about 5 years age I polished some good old mountain ash chairs with white polish and i couldnt get the polish to come up on one of them.
I discovered i hadforgoten to neutalised the oxalic acid i had used to bring the colour back, properly.

maybe you have somthing contaminating the timber?
