problem

Thanks for naming them Dingo. Sorry Neil, but you're wrong in this case. My first thought was that it was Triton and while I'm not in the market for a major tool at the moment, this is the sort of thing we need to know about when we are and it's the sort of thing that sticks in your mind. So we need to know exactly who is being talked about. It's either that or only say good things about tools, in which case this forum becomes useless.

With all due respect to Neil and talking on his behalf, but I don't think he was saying not to name the brand for legal reasons.

From his post, it was to give the new owner a fair crack of the whip, not because we can't name-names.

I agree Stuart and no doubt it is what he meant.

But it does happen a lot with regard Timbecon their name is more often than not NOT mentioned and mostly theyre mentioned only by the color of their machines etc.

Let me say this very clear

Hopefully they will either get rid of the crap sherwood gear they are still flogging and get something better and also up their customer service levels... however having said that they ARE still floggin the stuff and they do still have at least a quite a few of the same customer service people... AND... the problems still appear to be occuring!

Okay this is my last post on this thread about this company and its product or customer service. I am over it. My first post was NOT overly passionate nor was it overly anti the company IF you read it Im just conversing I was simply trying to say what I had seen and what I knew as was told by others in the industry (it IS a small industry group here :roll: ) ...my second post I agree was passionate and I still stand by what I said for just the reasons Daddles and bpj state.

I say it again...

But I will not ever hessitate to make comments or give my view BASED on experience of a particular company... EVER!.. no matter who they are!

And again Sean I hope you get it sorted and all ends up well, and again the same advice I gave before ASK HARRY!... and the others who have had to fix or work around the problems with the machine.

Tell me would it better if we all simply posted this... :roll: ...every time someone posed a question about it?... no of course not! the whole page would have a list of names with just the :roll: next to them... WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THIS! along with everything else we discuss.

Okay heres a go... I bought somewhere around 20,000 worth of tools of that mob... of some of the larger tools

the 10HB... I LOVE IT!! Brillaint bit of kit!
the 18in Bandsaw... I LOVE IT!!! Excellent machine
the 8in Jointer... I love the thing... perfect
the big lathe... BEAUTIFULL BRILLIANT!!
the thicknesser... Piece of utter crap!

So 4 out of 5 aint bad... I do also comment how much I enjoy the other machines from time to time... particularily the lathe... but I DONT enjoy the bloody thicknesser...

As to the customer service... well I have no experience with the new OWNERS... I do though have previous experience with the staff... and there is the other rub... the same staff are still there... maybe they will change the staff? Who knows maybe they will give them some training in people skills? who knows... that stuff is up to the new owners... just as how they go about their business... and good luck to them!!

NOW lets see Sean is having problems with his thicknesser... oh gees its the same as the one me an Harry and others have... yeah okay so were not meant to say anything detrimental cause a new owners taken over? Bullshyte... part of helping or trying to offer help is telling what we have experienced... and IF you read Seans own post it doesnt appear that anything has changed!!

Okay thats it... end of story

How about explaining in detail and specifically what was wrong with it and where the operator error was.

Reading between the lines, and I could be wrong just misreading :rolleyes: , is that you have accepted operator error cause you paid the bill and are more upset that you werent aware of the limited warranty:? .

So what was the operator error :? as that I think will drive the direction.

That previous post really is a mess. Sorry.

What I think I am trying to say is that there is a lot of emotion in the post and it may well be deserved but of course none of us were there at the time and the business is not on here so the post needs to be very specific about what happened. That is the only way to be fair.

"give em a serve" - If you gave me a serve I would tell you where your machine can go and would give you no help :)

So thats what I mean.....chronological steps including the conversation.

I think the user error was putting wood in one end and takeing it out the other!!! I wasnt using a dust extractor , i told them so as i have nothing to hide . The $200 GMC one i used for 3 yrs worked fine without one either . As for warranty "what F$%%^^in warranty" . The machine was faulty from day one ... Belts , then chain and now gear box or bearings , even they weren't sure .
A wise fellow once told me , lend someone $20 , and you never see them again then thats $20 well spent . I just spent $60 and it was well spent ... Just a pitty i had already spent $3000 ... Look i know a lot of people who are always buying tools ,machines etc . I will have no problem letting them know of my experiance . I make and sell work benches . A lot of work benches , this means a lot of potential customers for sellers of tools ,machines etc ... I hope timbecon enjoy their $60....

The similarities between the orange and the blue stuff is startling, I had more than a few problems with my blue one. It always leaked oil (even when there was none in it).

The gearbox stopped doing fast feed very early on.

Happily I no longer own it, sold in as is condition through an auction.
