At the start of the working year (5/1) the employees would put anything under 5 cents in the bin at the end of the day. All puncture reairs ($2.00 at the time) and battery charges (also $2.00) would go in as well.
At the end of the year it was that heavy you couldn't lift it. Our record was $15,000 which paid for all the staff to hire a houseboat on the Murray for a fortnight and included all food and drink.
But counting and bagging it was a nightmare.
