Love Yellowbeard myself, seen it many times and still gets a laugh.
My favourite movie would have to be Delicatesen, very funny but in a dark way, clever, and luscious to watch, a real treat! Only downside is its French so you need to enjoy subtitles.
Silent, did you enjoy Prospero's Books? I probably enjoyed The Cook, the Thief... and Belly of an Architect more, but visually Prospero's was delicious!
Cheers,
Yes, I did enjoy it. Not as dark and dirty as the earlier ones though, which is probably why I enjoy them more. I love The Cook and have it on DVD but I didn't mention it as it was a bit of a hit, almost mainstream. I've got a couple of Michael Nyman CDs too - the music is a big part of those films.Quote:

I've seen Delicatessen too, although it was more than 10 years ago when it first came out. I enjoyed that too but need to watch again because I don't recall much about it. Something to do with meat... and the guy playing a hand saw with a violin bow.
Probably the most sensual (literally) movie ever made, was Amelie. Wonderfully funny in a French kind of way
Made it into mainstream cinemas for about ten minutes, but a must-see, must -own.
Cheers,
P:D
Amelie was made by the same crew as Delicatesen I believe, but despite rave reviews I'm yet to see it.
Something to look forward too!
Finally thought of one - Malcolm. An Australian movie, don't think it was a hit, but was brilliantly entertaining. maybe similar in feel and funniness to The Castle. Loved the gadgetry!
cheers

Malcolm was spoilt for me because the first time I saw it was on a bus trip between Sydney and Merimbula. The second time I saw it was on a bus trip from Merimbula to Sydney 2 days later. You'd think the slack mongrels would hire more than one video....
BTW I have never been on a long distance bus since then either...
I don't know if 'The MOuse that Roared' was a hit but I still give it an airing from time to time.
A not so subtle dig at politics, Americans and the military (and a sense of War of the Worlds with the mass hysteria scene, men from mars, look like fish).
I liked the attack on the Queen Elizabeth:D :D
Probably just as well. I understand they're still showing Malcolm. :DQuote:

Ahem! Er, , that is - one hopes - a movie recommendation and not a part of your wish list? :oQuote:

My favourite that didn't make it is the original version of "The Producers" by Mel Brooks with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel.
The other one I enjoy seeing again is "Blazing Saddles".

I was stuck in a Hotel in Singas for 5 days once...(or was it Honkers...can't remember) but rather than watch TopGun to death I watched "Hudson Hawk" about 19 times to try and learn the words to all the songs. Stupid Stupid movie but some funny bits and great music.
On the Bruce W thing I liked that movie (the memory is shot) where the bad guy is doing the obligatory beating up of our hero (the over worked, underpaid, drinks to much, smokes too much wife is leaving him PI)..anyway the bad guy says "just for once I'd like to hear you scream in pain"...and Brucey says (through the blood) "just play some rap music"...ROFL...I can relate to that. What was that movie..??
