Drying time for hard burnished BLO (Diggers brand)

I have to say that is a really nice finish on the timbers, but as it is going to be a work bench, just wondering, if you start using it as such, wont the top finish be scratched to hell after a short period of time? and if so, then why this attention to detail if that is the case or am I missing something? Personally I would not be able to do any work on such a table as I wouldn't want to damage it after spending so much time on getting a good finish.

Thanks Ed. It actually doesn't take very long - three times over it with the sander (3 grits) and each grit took about 7-8 minutes (sides etc). You are right though - it is just a workbench, and this was more practice than needing/wanting that level of sheen.

Very purdy Brett. The beauty of BLO, especially for a bench top, id that if/when it gets scratched up you just give it a rub over with some more BLO and surface restored. I think I did 4 or 5 50/50 coats on my bench top. BLO is pretty tough. It's taken quite a beating over the last 12 months, could probably do with a wipe down of BLO but it still looks pretty good.

That is a fantastic workbench. It's better than some of my mates FURNITURE!
