Sounds very interesting. Glad NSW has something like this on - sick of reading about the Vic ones :)
Bringing the lathe will be a challenge, but worth the effort, I think.
Cheers,
Dave

SANDGROPER...is going to bite the bullet...she's seriously considering coming over for weekend...
...my queery is if there would be anyone in Syndey area who would or could let me know how accessable destination is.. could one get there with out much difficulty... don't see point of hiring car... when I'm going to have my mind firmly entrenched in turning for complete weekend....
Will make sure I not to book QANTAS... hehehehe
Kekemo is going to venture out her save zone...
Brother's coming down to decide which lathe to set up... want to make legs for furniture...
Yes I know how boring...but it's neccessary...
keep well & stay safe...
Cheers Kekemo:;
Kekemo Blue Mountains is very accessible, so is the venue.
Plane to Sydney, Train (if your pensioner $2.50) to Blue Mountain's bring your camera just for scenery. Many coaches also do motel pick up maybe if there were enough people flying in Rhys could organise a coach for everyone if arriving the same day.:;
Pity that gnome bloke Dingo has given up woodworking you could have dragged him along.:;
Hey Kekemo,
Sent you an email, forget bringing your lathe, we will provide one for sandgropers. Public transport from airport to Katoomba very easy, but it's about a 2 hour trip, the last hour very scenic. We can pick up at Katoomba station.
Hope to see you there

Great idea, we've been given a coach for the weekend by the local council. We are going to use it for tours on Saturday for the "non woodturning" participants. We should be able to use it for a pickup from Mascot, if the number are there, on the Friday. We certainly can arrange a pickup from, and return to, Katoomba station for those coming by train
:2tsup:
Please to advise that we have sourced a good supply of wood for sale at the event. Prices will be extremely attractive so if you run out of wood over the weekend we should have enough to suppliment. Hope to see you all there. :2tsup:
Things are moving along well for the event. Members of Woodies clubs around Sydney can expect a visit from us over the next few months.
Remember, attendance is limited so don't leave it tooooo long to book in.
Visit the website Index and select "Turning Escape 2012" for more information and the application form.
