A quote from a Government publication in WA. The black swan is the native, the white swan is the import.

Thanks Robert - in case you don't realise, I am a Brit, in UK! My post was intended to convey the opposite of yours, in effect. White (mute) swans are native to Britain, but some wag imported black swans from Australia.

In many ponds, the black swans have become a real menace. Swans are very violent and territorial creatures (cygnets get killed if they stray into the wring family's 'zone'). Black swans are smaller but even more agressive than the white ones, so tend to take over when introduced.

Bit hard to go out and shoot anything these days the government has taken all our guns off us.

thanks but we have a good supply of falcons and kestrels hawks ect and rifle and shotgun works on most with the warmer weather we are seeing the start of the crawly season already avoided 4 biggish (5-6ft) western brown snakes in the last couple days just glad they dont think we are food.

Al we are all imports including the people our forefathers displaced but at least we do prefer to work not bludge the system.

Bob yes all other things were brought in for pest control and became the problem including so called bird fanciers who breed Indian doves to the point that they then release them as there is no market and they then compete with native stocks usually to the detriment of the natives.These people should be fined heavily but it is not an issue as its not 'dangerous'
oh poop maybe I just get the chainsaw and cut some more desert timber for some scroll work Im doin :D safer than goin on about imported pests

It's definitely wriggly season, saw a rather lively little tiger in Doncaster last Wednesday and we have spotted a couple of red bellied blacks on our place, just out to give the mules a fright.
Where are the Kookaburras when you need them? (A relative of the Kingfisher).

The popup that appeared was the one that informs you that your computer may have the spyware and suggests you obtain some virus protection program from the dialogue page showing. I just ticked the exit cross quick .
