I lived at north ryde many years ago and worked at west lindfield. I could walk to work in 45 minutes. It took that long to drive some mornings.

No. Brisbane has the worst roads I've ever seen. They are so badly designed they often actually scare me, and of course they are both in poor condition and hopelessly inadequate. In sydney if an accident happens on the south side for example it only stops traffic on the south side. In Brisbane a prang on one side of the city gridlocks the whole place.
You need to earn twice as much to survive at the same standard as in other states?
Qld has gone from being the lowest tax state in aus to the highest in the last 11 years. Our real estate has almost caught sydney but wages are about 70%.
