That's OK. I was having second thoughts about those socks myself:-.

Having spent a few hours in the sin bin, I have seen the error of my ways and am now out to redeem myself.
I have to tell you that in my search to find myself I came upon some absolute beauties, which to my unbiased mind would have been clear winners. Unfortunately I had to reject them. I had never fully appreciated how poor women are at choosing socks:rolleyes:.
Still with a female theme, but considerably toned down.

And for those of you who like warm and fuzzy (might have applied to the original, I suppose, although it wasn't easy to tell from that angle)
"Don't worry ! I'm behind you all the way! "

Hmm.
Well there have been a lot of good ones and Tea Lady's Mr Plod with his helmet and truncheon gave me an especially hearty chuckle but.......
...as a kayak fisherman I can't go past 's entry :2tsup: (and anyway he saved us from the socks :p)
Have a go
Good choice and apparantly that one is genuine, not photoshopped (according to snopes. snopes.com: The Follower) :).

Nope. Why would I rub out a good looking rooster like that.
You are right about the socks, just black.

"Trust me."
Thanks
There were two references in fact. As you said, Shere Khan was the utterly ruthless tiger, voiced over by George Sanders in the 1960s cartoon. George had that super smooth, uppercrust, pommie-bounder voice. Kaa was the snake who used to hypnotise the monkeys with the catch line "trust in me."
George Sanders topped himself when he was in his mid fifties because he thought he was getting old. I think age was probably the least of his problems. Just a little piece of trivia.
On to the business of the day. A wide-ranging caption I hope.

Hindsight?

Wisdom of hindsight eh?
There were a few commrcial failures that might have been highlighted and I did take note of labr@'s Edsel, but I am giving this one to Cliff for his pun on hindsight.
It did occur that somebody could have posted a female red deer:wink:
Over to you Cliff.
