backflow from new kitchen mixer

Good evening Chaps
I have just installed a new mixer tap in my kitchen (previously separate hot and cold taps) which seems to be filling up my gravity fed hot water tank by backflowing up the hot water pipe when I turn the tap on. Is there an easy solution to this problem, perhaps a non return valve placed somewhere?
