Expanded Polystyrene Sheeting

I'm considering a second story extension to my brick veneer home and will be limited to "light weight" construction because of the existing foundations. My draftsperson suggested EPS but my builder tells me it cracks and I should use Blueboard.
Can anyone give advice?
