Remove water cleanup -oil based stain from red gum slab
G'day all,
I bought a couple of red gum slabs from the local sawmill (he gave me the flitches as well - thanks). One slab - the smaller - is a bar top in an undercover outdoor area. I prepped it up and gave it a couple of coats of Dimension 4. After deciding the look was what I wanted I thought it better to give it a top coat of something water based but more durable. At the shop the girl talked me into getting something with a light tint for UV protection. So I bought Wattyl Deck & Exterior Timber Stain in Merbau tint. Now its on and it looks just like orange paint (sob).
This stuff is "revolutionary oil based resin core surrounded by a tough acrylic shell"
I don't want to sand it and all the character off the slab. Any ideas for a miracle chemical to clean this up?
Thanks
Another wet method solution
Thanks for the advice.
Other than sanding my next best option may be every Friday night drinks. All that breasting and elbowing the bar will eventually wear this stuff off won't it?
Better get on the phone now.
