I have decided to get some Peltor earmuffs to replace the cheapo things I wear now.
My question though, is whether anyone uses the neckband versions (rather than headband) and how comfortable they are.
I like the idea particularly for when I mow the lawn or sometimes drag tools out to the back lawn to work & tend to wear a wide-brimmed hat.
But if the headband versions are more comfortable, I might just go that way.
I have all 3 versions (headband, helmet clip on and neckband) and they are all about the same as each other.Quote:

neck band are the go if you need a shady hat .use them for milling when i dont need a hemet with muffs and visor , cheers bob
I currently have an overthe head pair, but they just don't keep at the same place so I'm always adjusting them to fit. My safety glasses won't sit properly when I wear the earmuffs. So I'll either be getting a full face protector or round the neck peltos very soon.:rolleyes:
i have stihl neckband muffs. they have a thin band over the top of your head to hold them up. work brilliantly i can wear me hat and they dont fall off.
I use the neckband style as weisy says the loop sits on your head so they sit comfortably.
This way I can wear a powered respirator or a cap no worries
Thanks for the feedback folks, I think I get some neckband ones and see how they go.
From a couple of the posts it seems that they still have a small headband. Is this right?
my stihl ones have a cloth strap with a velcro bit on it over teh head top hold it up.
Have a couple of neckband Peltors - had them for many years - use them in the shed as well as mowing and any job outside where hearing protection is required. Outside I nearly always wear a broad brimmed hat so they are essential.
The only occasional problem you may find is if the band rubs on a high collared shirt as it transfers the rub noise through the muffs but I don't find it a problem.
I don't think you will regret your purchase - they are really good.

Agree with the comment that the Peltor is much better than the elchepo.
I got a set for use at work - open plan office with a couple of boom box type guys who seem to have constant disagreements about credit cards over a phone line they think needs 100dBm transmission level!. Life is much better with the new muffs!
Wish I'd known about the neck band sort but up at the farm the over the top style still lets a hat fit - yes its slightly less "sticky" on the noggin in a wind but again the Peltor thin wire band is far less intrusive than the elchepo plastic band.
I got the H10A --- 5+ rated version.
You'll not regret the purchase. -- just don't nod off in the peaceful silence :U

Yep have to agree with you on that. I have the same pair and they are brilliant. Have worked around aircraft over the years and the peltors are the the best.:2tsup:
