hi everybody, i have been researching the earlex pro online and it seems to be a good piece of kit for spraying.
has anyone bought one of these models?
what do you think of it?
how much did you pay?
i see carbatec have them for $499 in their newsletter. do any other shops sell these in australia?

Oi Justin. I have one and it has been, so far, the bee's knees. Spraying shellac, lacquer and varnish with ease. Good results. If you Google WoodWhisperer and Earlex review you will find a good review of the sprayer. No complaints.
I am too shy to tell you what I paid for it in the USA. :rolleyes:
hi bloke, i understand that some people dont want to talk about prices. thats cool.
i checked out the wood whisperers videos a few weeks ago, thats what made me think about spray guns in the first place.
the joys of the internet are that i see in the states it retails on sears.com at US$300 which converts to AU$400.
so i guess i will be willing to pay somewhere between AU$400-$450.
it will be interesting to see if anybody else has had good experiences with this gun.

I bought the Earlex model below the 'pro' for about $300 aust ( $329?) and it has been very handy. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of the top of the line but, so far, this hasn't been a problem. The only long term issue could be the plastic, rather than metal, handgun.
Provided you get the viscosity reasonably right, it sprays beautifully. So far I have successfully sprayed water and oil based finishes in addition to shellac.
One of my best purchases in the last year.

I'm not THAT shy! :D It's just that comparing US and OZ prices often seems to lead to whingeing amongst the troops. Paid $279.00 US 2 years ago on sale. Sells for $300 to $350 now. Keep in mind, the Sears one comes with 1 needle. The one at Woodcraft comes with 2 needles (as did mine). Be sure to confirm what is included.Quote:
