Saw your light on...thought I'd drop in

Hi Everyone,

It seems that every time I ask google about tool or product/material info there's always a link to this forum. What a great source it is. So i thought I'd better sign up and hopefully I can contribute something of value sometime. I'm not exclusively a woodworker but I've spent the last 20 years making models/props, sfx and designing sets for film, TV and exhibitions etc. and I also enjoy making animations and the odd bit of furniture. I've rebuilt and/or renovated a few houses along the way as well (and for the most part they've stayed up)

I'm happiest when the smell of sawdust is in the air rather than the fumes of resins and C.A. etc. so this must be the right place.

I'll have a look around for a few pics that might be of interest. I probably should have taken more over the years but when you're rushing to get stuff out the door, (sometimes in the wee small hrs when you finish) a decent photo is elusive.

All google searches lead to the woodwork forum. We've talked about everything here.:cool::rolleyes:

I'm willing to try and answer what I can - though judging by the calibre of the posts here I'm sure someone else will know more. (the pic is a 'position registration' photo taken of one of my characters during a stop-motion animation. You're right - not really a decent pic but the only one on hand in my flash drive at the moment)

Well it's a plasticene and wax head that I made for close up shots of a character that I used in an animation in 2007.The eyes are painted marbles, the helmet 'super sculpy' and the uniform hand sown in cotton. The animation was about a soldier caught in no-mans-land on the Western Front of WW1. Not exactly a "happy, happy, joy, joy" type animation but it got shown at a few festivals so someone must have liked it.

your modelling skills and photography are right up there mate, as soon as I looked at the photo I knew what it was about, you have encapsulated my idea of what it must have been like in france when we lost so many good men.
I think it deserves a place in the new war memorial at fromelle, onya mate
