I have noticed that 3 out of 4 (or more) new members have rep points turned off. Has Neil shouted boo and scared them? Changed the default on the registration?
What's the deal? :?

Is someone denying you the satisfaction of giving them a reddie, HB?:D
I would love to know how to read the rep bars (part dark green, part light green) that appear against posts ... they make no sense to me.
Bob, I'll give you a reddie if you want :q
Don't new members have to have a certain number of posts before the can join in the scheme?
These questions should all be dealt with in the FAQ
Jeremy, such as . . .

How much reputation can I give out? Are there any limits? There are quite a few limits in place to prevent minor abuse of the reputation system. Obviously there cannot be a flawless system, but these limits try to curb any intentional abuse. You must have 50 posts and 1 reputation point in order for your reputation to count on other people.
Until you meet those requirements, your reputation will show up as grey/blue dots (see below). Everybody is limited to giving out 20 reputations per day; you cannot give the same person reputation until you have given reputation to 20 other people.
This prevents friends from giving 20 reputations to the same person every day.
Sorry for being a bit terse when reminding you of the FAQ - it wasn't directed to you in particular (far from it). But it helps to remind all of us, every now and then, that many of the answers are already somewhere in the Forums - and I knew that you wouldn't be offended by my using your questions as an occasion for a general reminder
I just joined and mine says that I've disabled my reputation, which I haven't (at least not intentionally). I'm happy for this judgment to be thrust upon my brittle soul, so how can I 'enable' my reputation? And before you ask, yes I did read the FAQ's but may have missed the 'Enabling your reputation for dummies' info.
Thanks.
In your User CP, "Settings and Options," select "Edit Options." There's a box for enabling or disabling "Reputation Points."
I had to do a browse to find it myself. I don't recall it being in my original registration, so it might have come about in one of the many upgrades to the forum software, automatically enabled for grandfathers, disabled for newbies, at the time. There seems to be a pattern, but I haven't sought the critical date.
You may retract your apology, Bob, if you like.
Cheers,
Joe
Thanks Joe, take the rest of the day off mate.
