No, that is why they are called leaves, because they eventually leave. The earth is actually slowly getting bigger as dust and other bodies from space are drawn into the atmosphere of the earth, but we really need the moon to fall to really hurry it along.

I remember reading a Paddington Bear story, where he was asked:

"if you have a piece of wood 2 feet long, and you cut it in half, how long will each piece be?"
