Ventition plaster? and topcoat?

Hi all me again!
Has anyone had a try at venetion plastering? Where did you get the plaster if you have?
I seriously want to try this finish on a firplace surround........:D I can't find many places selling it on the net altho I havent phoned around my area yet. Mind you the local mitre10 bloke didnt know what rendering was either....:doh:
and onto "topcoat".........can I colour it? If I get the premixed stuff can I use an additive to colour it? A little latex/acrilyc paint or would it need to be a pigment? I plan to use the plain as the first couple of skims over but want to try something more.......can I say Faux......on the final coat!:lb:
yeah I know.....the old boy thinks I am nuts too! but I did promise nothing too way out there!:lb:
