New deck as a carport?

Hello all, please excuse my lack of knowledge - if you've got a computer problem I'm your man!

I need to build a carport, approx 7m L x 4.5m D and 2.4m H, over an existing concrete driveway at the front of the house. Rather than have an unattractive colourbond roof to look at from the front verandah (which is one level up from the driveway) I'm thinking of making the carport a timber deck and thereby making the space useful and more attractive.

Any ideas on how to waterproof the actual carport area underneath - fibro/membrane/timber etc? Other ideas? Anything I should look out for?
