plaster --> cut in your own rebate?

Im halfway through plastering a wall which has the doorjamb fitted. Ive decided to move the door to another wall and was wondering how best to plasterboard over the gap.... Should i simply sacrifice the existing plaster (which is cut around the door) and replace with two new whole length sheets....as none of the actual base coat or finish has been done yet or should i just put in an extra stud where they would meet etc and add two 1m lengths to the existing? This would mean butt joints where they join.... in this case.... should i cut in my own rebate to join the two lengths along a stud, screw it tight so it wont move at all and then plaster flat etc? Or just plaster the butt joints with paper tape and broad sweeping finish coat to hide the butt joint? Bear in mind im an ammo and im after the best finish and dont want any lumps or future cracks (of course)..... at this stage where none of the finish has been done perhaps better to simply buy two new sheets? But saying that...if cutting in my own rebate or attention to detail with simply taping the butt joint is standard practice and achievable for a non pro, i would rather save the $$ and materials. thanks And p.s.
