coloring mdf
what can you use on mdf to give it different colors, besides just painting it, do you also need to seal it with anything before hand.
I have some in the shed, but dont use it much for this reason, I saw a small table made from mdf & it had a nice reddish brown color to it, but dont know they got this color.

you can buy mdf in various colours
(bunnies don't sell it you must look for specialised suppliers

Any oil/spirit stain will do the job, probably give water based stains a miss tho.

I used a Feast Watson spirit stain when I made a computer desk.
I had to give it several coats to get an even colour as the MDF acted like blotting paper.
It worked out pretty good once a top coat was applied.

I tried water stain on MDF recently:( what a failure that was! Live and learn!
