greatings everyone.

my name is Bob,
i live in Lincolnshire England. i am retired and have been dabbling in woodwork for a number of years. i do a bit of turning, but at the moment i am slowly renovating the bungalow that i live in. when i say slowly, i have been doing this for the last ten years off and on due to health problems and other comitments.

i am looking forward to seeing how other people do things with wood, usually i find that everyone has a far better way than i have and i wonder why i never thought of it.

Retired means like in my case renovating the house, paintwork, new floors, and all that sort of things to keep the LOML happy. I retired in 2001.
So the same for you as I understand. Well it takes a lot of time.
But I started in 2002 with woodturnen, Knew that before, as it was already my passion to work with wood, in the first place flatwork in the 70th and 80th.
My outside workshop is now closed, concerning the cold and also I don't like it to get a fat electricity bill.

Most of us here do things with wood, some better than others, but that's normal. I know the feeling about retirement. As Ad says, the work grows and you wonder how you managed before you retired. Like you, I had a few health problems and occasionally bemoan my lost untireable youth. Wood work has to fit in with other things. At present it's working with trellis and how I hate the stuff.

I used to find time to do some turning but even that has been buried under the "other commitments". So you see you are not alone and it's why this forum is so good. Here many of us understand the need to ask for advice, vent your frustration and generally just find people who understand. So join in in any way that satisfies your needs.:U

i understand what you mean about the cold, when i was younger, about a thousand years ago, cold meant nothing to me.
at the moment here we have frost on top of snow. it was -4 last night.
