We need a new bed. The moldy futon will finally leave the building ........we hope.:C But what to get? I have this fantasy of a mattress that is good for him on one side, and good for me on the other. :dreaming: as we both have sore backs and necks, but in differant ways. And of course he is a bit heavier than me.:rolleyes: Was looking at "beds for backs".
What do others have? Any recommendations? Or definite no-nos?
I haven't taken a lot of notice but recently a TV advert has been showinig a "dial up" mattress with side-by-side settings - exactly what you described. The only info I recall is that they are available at 'selected' Harvey Normans stores.

We have had a slumberland cushion top matress for about 5 years now and are very happy with it. It is made by select-o-pedic. Ours has independent coils so very little movement is transferred to the other sleeper. It also has bands with different support at the hips shoulders, legs. I good chiropractic pillow also make a huge difference.

We've had a water bed for 14 years (onto the second one now, which we've had for about 8). I hate sleeping on anything else.
Sorry TL can't really help. Have a waterbed (25 years). Just like SilentC can't really get a good nights' sleep on anything else.
Here's a thought. Make your own and use two single mattresses. That way you get what you want and give him what you think he needs. (don't you like that).:U:U:U
Try out a Tempur mattress. Just magnificent for bad backs.
I've had mine for five years.
I think Harvey Norman sell them.

.....think I have now made about 10 beds... mixture of double & queens... Oh and about same in singles...
Just a few positives they are so much stronger... you can make them to the height you need... I believe too many people have their bed too low.....
some of my previous post show pictures of the beds I've made...
the other particular reason I love making all my beds....putting in angeline as brackets... once you have a homemade bed.... you might wear out the matteress....but a sollid bed will last a lifetime/ then be pasted on for more use.....
You may do worse than looking at the Dunlopillo range of Latex rubber beds. We purchased a Queen sized one about 10/12 years ago. One of the features we really liked was the ability to adjust each side for each sleeper. Another aspect was the near non-interference of one person to another, unless they move around like an elephant.
The bed also came with a 20 year warranty.
We have been extremely pleased with our bed and I know of two other couples with the same or similar Dunlopillo beds.

I agree with Mick. Dunlopillo is the final word in beds. Then again, I am also in Germany so maybe you can't trust either of us.
One bed I can rule out for you is the IKEA bed I sleep on at the moment. It's not that old but my wife and I broke it... reading. No realy. Sitting up in bed, the long rail down my side of the bed, (the one that supports the slats) broke in two place and the thin metal angel that supports it folded flat. The mattress is quite comfortable though and if I didn't have to catch the Underground to the hardware store I'd happily make a new frame for it.
