single pole rcbo problems

Hi everyone new to the forum and am after a bit of assistance with what seems to be a unusual problem.I installed 4x 20a rcbos sigle pole on a subboard, these are on power circuits.Something strange happens,when i use my plug in socket tester to trip the rcd it trips but when i bridge a building wire across neutral and earth no tripping on 3 of the the circuits and 1 circuit does anyone have any ideas im stumped.
