g'day,
that's what was supposed to say wasn't it!
anyway, hi I'm Dave. I'm in the process of extending our barn (we're a bit rural so it's not a garage, anyway that might suggest we store cars in there) and I'll finally have enough space to set up a work shop. that's the reason I started looking around here as I'm after a lathe so i can rekindle (with the failed projects) an interest from high school.
Rekindle is also relevent as my other passion is the RFS, a great way to enjoy yourself whilst meeting the locals and providing a service to the community.
Other projects on the go are;
finish the house (no rush, not planning to sell)
restoring a 58 beetle for the wife
rebuilding a 73 beetle for the daughter
finishing a traditiional greenland kayak, no glue no metal fabric skin
you can see why i need to extend!
anyway, looks like a great source of ideas and information,
cheers for now and Merry Christmas to everyone :rolleyes:

G'day firedave welcome. I,m a recent member of this forum too.
I see you are interested in the RFS which I take to mean The Rural Fire Service.
My wifeand I were after hours radio base operators for fifteen years in the Wagga area before retiring from farming in 2000.
Now spend much of my time with the Riverina Woodworkers Club.
Hope you have a great holiday season. You'll find lots to interest you here.:wink:
