Pergola makeover

I have a pergola aprox. 7m x 4.3m at one end and 3.3m at the other. It's shonky and ugly. It doesn't have a beam at the front and seems to be short on the number of required rafters. I dont want to build a new pergola. Any thoughts on how to renovate the existing pergola? What size beam would be required? What timber should I use?Maybe I should re design it so it compliments the house, it looks so ugly at the moment. Any suggestions?
