Salt isn't speeding up cornice adhesive setting
I've watched Rod's videos on patching a ceiling hole and looked at the website. Today I have been practising patching holes on a makeshift plasterboard wall I made outside.
All is OK except the cornice adhesive is still soft in the middle area after 10, 20 minutes or more despite mixing with a liberal amount of saxa salt. ie: I can still dent it with my fingernail and if I scrape it with a plastering blade, it "furs" up where it hasn't set. It would only be about 1mm thick. It dries at the edges OK, but it does this without salt.
I even bought some new cornice adhesvie as my old bag was older than one year.
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to put it on really thin?
