Suggestions for Internal Walls

Hi All,

My brother and I have been fixing up mum and dad's house over the last few months. We're at the stage were we need to repair the interior walls in the bedroom.

The house was built back in the 70's and the bedroom walls consists of those thin sheets of timber panelling. Close to 40 years on, the panelling are starting to come undone/crack vertically. We dont really want to remove them all and have them plastered as there is quite a bit to do (3 oversized bedrooms). What would be the best way to overcome this problem? is there a way to glue these sections together? Also there are cornices and skirting so if the panelling is to be removed, then all these cornices and skirting will have to be removed and likley replaced.

So any suggestions would be great. thanks.
