How close can electric wall socket be to washimg machine taps?

Hi
I am renovating our laundry. How close can an electric wall socket be to the washing machine taps - does anyone know the standards / regulations about this? ( I just had an electrician visit to install the new wall socket for the washing machine and it looks a bit close to the washing machine taps to me)
