do i rinse sugar soaped walls?

hi,

So I've removed wallpaper and sugar soaped the walls and ceiling with a heavy duty sponge. Do I need to wash the walls and ceiling down with clean water after sugar soaping?

I;m only planning on roughing up the gloss skirtings and architraves as the walls are low sheen at most. does that sound ok?
