I am making some stuff in Tas oak and want to try a pale Danish soaped finish, like what the company pp mobler uses, does anyone know how to go about this, what soap flakes to get, lye etc etc ?

Hi,
I don't know anything about Danish soaped finish, but maybe Lux pure soap flakes might be a help.

cheers, I'll be trying it out with some lux flakes today, I think it is a little more complex than making a sludge and then buffing it off a day later but any instructions for old fashioned finishes I find online are all vague or contradictory. Thanks though, I'll see how it goes.
I just want to keep the wood quite pale with a waxy/leathery sort of feel, I hate the way tas oak yellows. Any other suggestions for a pale finish ?
UBeaut's White Shellac :)
Carbatec in Brisbane should have some.
Cheers
