has anyone made polystyrene lacquers, from what I have been told you disolve plystrene into ???? (think it might be turps or maybe thinners)
It can be poured onto a surface for a mirror finish that is nearlly bullet proof. have not had a chance to experiment but thought someone here might know
Salty, I've heard of it being dissolved with turps and then used to seal endgrain on timber while it is drying, but not as a finish.

as a kid, my brother and I used to use turps and foam combo as a glue... we weren't alowed to use dads good stuff, and we discovered this accidently. my memory of 25 years ago was that it worked well as a glue... will have to try again...
I did have a tiny little petrol in a container the other day and poured it onto some polystyrene, and it becomes a very slimey, gooey mess... would find it hard to spread on wood to finish...

I've seen it made up using Laquer Thinners.

I used to melt foam in turps all the time for end sealing, now I just use Bondcrete, but it would be no good as a finish. Petrol is also no good, it melts the foam, but the reaction causes too many bubbles and it doesn't stick as well to the timber.
