What are the odds, of a hamburger patty

falling from the sky and landing in my yard?

Not particularly high me thinks.

However, somehow, at least one hamburger managed to make it in my yard, I'm thinking there were probably quite a few more than one, but that was the only one I saw, and right after I laid eyes on it, it too was woofed down by dog 2 and 3.

Now, my first though was, what is that, followed by why is it in the yard, and lastly, how the heck did it get in the yard?

The first part was easy, after doing the see touch test I got over the impossibility of a hamburger patty being in the yard, it was pretty recognizable as being a hamburger patty.

The second bit wasn't much harder, I easily came to the conclusion, it was here for the dogs to eat.

The third bit might have been a bit harder if I hadn't recalled, when I drove up, that the dogs had been barking at something by the fence, a something that happened to be carrying a flashlight and walking on two feet.

Now it was dark, and there was a van and a tree and a small shed rather blocking my view, so I didn't see anything incriminating, but what are the odds, of a hamburger patty falling from the sky and landing in my yard? :~

Keep a very close eye on the dogs, the patties may have been baited.

Or a distraction while someone is casing the Joint or Area....OMG:oo:

seriously. was this cooked or raw?
idiot dog haters dont usually go to the trouble of forming a patty and cooking it. unually just bait a raw chunk.

I reckon your timing was lousy for someone. You should keep an eye out, my guess is they were up to no good. They probably know there is a shed full of tools, knew you had dogs and came prepared.

Most likely they will return.

I know who was by the fence, twas my neighbor. However I couldn't actually see what they were doing while by the fence so....

The hamburger was raw though, and not frozen, which with it being snowing and about 19 degrees right now, it hadn't been there long, and with it being late and me having just gotten home, the dogs hadn't been fed yet and any hamburger thrown over the fence would have been devoured immediately, which is actually how I came to be aware, was the little one grabbed a patty and ran it around behind the house to where I was feeding the horses. It was a pre-formed patty with a wrapper and I heard him peeling that away so I paused to see what he had and I saw what it was and grabbed it away then dropped it cause it was nasty. By then one of the other dogs had came around and they pretty much snarfed it before I could get it again, I have the wrapper and a bit that I stuck a baggy and put in the fridge in case they do get sick, perhaps it could be tested.

We had a power outage last week or so, and perhaps it was just the neighbors cleaning out their freezer, but thats an awfully long time to wait to clean out your freezer after an outage. They also have their own dogs, why wouldn't they feed it to them?

Last but not least, it wouldn't be the first pet we've lost, thats one of their venues of communication, going on almost two decades now. They're more wary as of the last few years though, and rightly so, I'm not as much of a pushover as my father was and I don't like to be bothered with such nonsense.

They've never been caught before, though tonight might have been the first.

The dogs are still acting fine though, so perhaps they are getting soft in their old age and just felt like tossing them a bit of old meat on a cold night...

They don't like our dogs though, and our dogs don't like them. Someone shot one of our dogs early this year, it pulled though though. Another first as well.

Anyhow, no bike yet, still trying acclimate my family to the idea. I'm in no hurry with the Christmas traffic either, people are nuts beyond belief right now, this would not be the time to be on a bike, I've had some of the closest calls I've had in a while just the last week or some, one where I had to resort to full emergency braking as I was blocked in when some twit in a truck made a right on a red as I was passing though the intersection on a green. I never knew my car could stop so fast. :U Really though, it was close, I was entering the intersection at about 45mph when he made the right so there was probably only 50' to stop in, I don't know how I did it, but I came to a dead stop in the middle of the intersection right short of T-boning the sorry sod, on a green I might add again, bloody lucky someone behind me didn't slam into me and sandwich me.

It was daylight too, and I had my lights on, so no excuse for not seeing me. Had I been on a bike, although they stop faster than cars, had hit him it would have probably been the end of the trail. That unfortionently is true about bikes, often you only get one mess up.

I don't so much look for it as I look out for it. :; Seriously though, going on twenty years now our pets have a mysterious way of dieing or disappearing whenever they are peaved over something between us or just simply going though a bad time, its not something new nor suspected. I've never retaliated, though to be fair I was only knee high to a grasshopper when all this started, but after a lifetime of this my patience is running thin, if I could ever catch them in the act I'd drop the hammer on them. Offing someones pet to send a message is just pure meanness.

The dogs are still acting fine though, so unless its something slow acting, then maybe they just tossed the lot over the fence and hoped they'd choke on the wrappings or get sick from it.

One of them was over by the fence again, same spot, when I pulled in tonight. He saw me pull up and literally ran back to the house. I smell a skunk but I can't place what it is. They better just mind their manners and be good little neighbors. :~

Once I get out of school, and start making instead of spending money, I'm going to buy myself the biggest plot I can, I'd say maybe a quarter section might do, though a full section would be better, then plant my house right in the middle of it. Robert Frost might have said, "good fences make good neighbors", but I say good fences and a lot of distance make for even better neighbors. :q

Blinking weaklings next door. If you caught them in the act they would cry for mercy from the beak . . . and most of those would give it to them.
