restoring a drop leaf table

Shane, or someone else, could you please give me a few hints on how best to go about beginning restoration work on a drop side table.


I am not too sure how old the piece is,( it has been in MY family for about 35 years that I know of), or if it is even solid timber or maybe a venee.

At present it is in several pieces in my garage, unfortunalty it is suffering from broken dowels in all the corner joints. As well the table top is badly scratched and in need of stripping and re-finishing.
