best way to seal between bath and tiles

I was wondering the best way to seal between the bath and bottom of the tiles around the bath.

Did it about 18 months ago and part of it need redoing

Were did i go wrong ???

Cleaned bath edge with metho after removing all old silicone.

Masked on both side of join, filled gap with bathroom wet area white silicone,
wiped with finger with a bit of dishwashing liquid on it, then removed masking tape, let set for a day, looked great

cheer with a glass of good red ( no red was involved with the sealling job above or was that the problem )

I did mine with Sikaflex 11-FC, has lasted 18 months so far. Didn't do anything greatly different to what you did, except I didn't mask it, I just squirted it in, smeared it about with my finger, then wiped the residue off the tiles with a rag dipped in metho.

What happened to the bit that needed replacing? Did it fall out or what?

The missing piece in in the corner, at the shower end of the bath
where the other half, put her shampoo and other stuff.
I cleaned the bath moved all the stuff, and found about 100mm of silicone
missing, ( the gap ) i has wondering about a small bit of standing water, in the corner causing it ??
So I moved carefully the shampoo & other stuff to a small ( medium size )plastic tray on the Hob at the other end of the bath...

The water shouldn't cause that. I suspect that you may not have gotten a proper bond there. You really need to make sure you work it in so that it is contacting both the tile edge and the bath. I was sitting in my spa the other day and noticed that there was a hairline gap between the bead of silicone and the edge of the tile - a bit hard to see unless you're sitting in it. Another rainy day job for me.

I think the trick is to fill the tub with water before siliconing the gap, the seal is then under compression to start with and is less likely to open up later on. Leave the tub filled while it cures overnight.

We had a bathroom reno done by a company and it took 3 callbacks to get it done right.

I will clean it up carefully and try scottyb idea of weight the bath, but may not use water ( gym wieght instead ) due water restrictions

But first a glass of red and weekend away for the meblourne cup (S 38 44 E 143 40 )
