On me way to work this morning and I seen this house roof that has a small hip (say 600mm) running up the valley. I would say it was just for athetics. I thought it looked quite neat, something different.

Trying to picture what you mean. So it's like two valleys with a small hip in the middle? Like a W in cross section?
