Broken spring on tilt door

Has anyone had this happen.

Last week I was in the house when noise like a truck had run into the garage door.

I ventured out to find that one of the 4 large springs on the hinges had broken at the lug that attaches the spring to the hinge.

The spring punched a hole in the garage ceiling and flew across the garage to end up 5 metres away.

I reckon if someone had been standing nearby they would have sustained some serious injuries.

Luckily the car was not in the garage or it may have been badly damaged.
