Best Finish for Silky Oak Doors

Hi there

I have a mate who recently bought a house that has what looks like silky oak windowed doors. Two of these in particular need to be sanded back and refinished as they are exposed to the rain and westerly sun. So I am wondering what would be the best finish to show off the timber but protect it.
